Radcliffe retired from Godolphin’s racing program in December 2017. He is a 6-year-old son of Lonhro out of Sung who had 9 career starts for a first, 2 third placings and a total of $65,435 in prizemoney.
Following an adequate spell Radcliffe found his forever home with 16-year-old Mercadies Mitchell from Advancetown Queensland in June 2019. Mercadies and her mother, Carol, made the 10 hour long journey to Woodlands to collect Radcliffe and instantly fell in love with his kind nature, now affectionately known as Cliffy.
Mercadies, very quickly, built a great partnership with Cliffy retraining him to compete in eventing under the watchful eye of her coach, Ulli Klatte. The powerhouse combo have competed at numerous events travelling as far as Tamworth NSW with huge success. Radcliffe has taken to his life after racing with great enjoyment having jumped up to 1.15m so far.
Mercadies and Cliffy ended the 2019 competition year ranked 8th on the Equestrian Queensland overall standings in the Intro 60cm class, after just 5 months together. What a huge achievement in such a short amount of time.
We look forward to watching this combo progress through the grades.
